Call for Input regarding the UK’s trade with the Republic of Korea ahead of upcoming trade negotiations

The Department of International Trade has now launched the Call for Input regarding the UK’s trade with the Republic of Korea ahead of upcoming trade negotiations.

  • The Republic of South Korea is the United Kingdom's 20th largest trade partner with bilateral trade worth £14.3 billion in 2021. South Korea was the world’s 10th largest economy in terms of GDP in 2021, with a population of almost 52 million people.
  • The 2019 UK-South Korea Free Trade Agreement provides the basis for our trading relationship with South Korea and is a platform from which we can begin the process of negotiating a new and more ambitious trade deal.
  • In advance of agreeing a UK mandate for these negotiations, Defra are also seeking input from members of the public, businesses, and any other interested stakeholders to inform which aspects of current trading arrangements with South Korea we should look to improve or amend.

For further details regarding the Trade Agreement between the UK and South Korea, please see UK-South Korea trade agreement - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

Please follow this link to see the Call of Input landing page, the consultation closes on 2nd February 2023.
