Consultation: Proposed release of non-native biological control Aculus sp. nov.

Aculus sp. (eriophyid mite) could be released as a non-native biological control agent to reduce the vigour of Crassula helmsii, a widespread and invasive non-native weed. The plant can produce dense mats on slow moving water bodies, which can have a negative impact on recreation and water treatment, and may reduce native biodiversity. Further information can be found here.
