General Comments

Wood wasp present in Japan and the Korean peninsula whose larvae primarily feed on the sapwood of stressed or felled Cryptomeria and Chamaecyparis trees. Damage is caused by emergence holes and larval galleries, as well as indirectly via the introduction of a fungal symbiont which leads to discolouration of the timber. It is not considered a primary pest in the known distribution.
