New Legislation Update (October 2021)

As communicated in May 2021, Defra have introduced legislation (see here) which introduces specific import requirements for:

  • Prodiplosis longifila (a gall midge pest of tomatoes, cucumber, asparagus and other species)
  • Agrilus fleischeri (beetle pest of poplar and willow),
  • Thekopsora minima (rust pathogen of blueberry and other Vaccinium species).

In addition, this legislation modifies the existing measures for Agrilus planipennis (Emerald ash borer) and introduces a prohibition on the import of Polymnia sonchifolia. It also deregulates certain pests that are not considered a risk to GB.

This legislation will come into force on the 2nd December 2021.
