Scientific authorisation review explanatory guidance

Introduction

Defra are conducting a review of scientific authorisations which allow the introduction, movement, holding, multiplication or use of specified material within England and Wales.

This review is an ongoing process and encompasses several areas as explained below, some of which will affect all authorisation types, and result in the re-issuing of current scientific authorisations and letters of authority (LoA). At different stages of the review process we will be contacting individual authorisation holders on the planned changes to authorisations.

Whilst the review of scientific authorisations is ongoing there may be inconsistencies in the pests listed and the wording between institutions. We hope to have this addressed as soon as possible.

The following pages describe various parts of the review process:

Review of pests on scientific authorisations

Review of special precautions on scientific authorisations

Review of wording on scientific authorisations (all authorisation holders)
